Sometime or another, my Granny let it be known that she was not a fan of "those tacky pink birds."
This led my mother (who has never been known to pester anyone) to buy a set of lawn flamingos she saw at an estate sale and put them in Granny's yard.
Apparently while they were there, the flamingos got bizzay and returned to Mommy's yard with a slew of little baby flamingos (in the form of a string of light up porch light flamingos).
The flamingoing (yes I know that's not a real word) has continued and escalated through the years to the point that I'm not entirely sure the younger kids realize that Granny isn't actually a fan of all the flamingo paraphernalia they continue to bring her.
We have covered her Christmas tree in flamingo ornaments, decorated the food in her refrigerator with flamingos on toothpicks, dressed her in flamingo pajamas, bought all kinds of flamingo odds and ends at estate sales and flea markets, and now....she will have her very own flamingo quilt!
If she hasn't developed a soft spot for flamingos by now.....
ps- My mom and I happen to like those tacky pink birds!
