Our Story

Thank you so much for visiting my shop! I am Catherine, a stay at home wife & mom of 3 whose quilt hobby turned into a career and slowly took over the entire house…

Although I had been sewing my entire life, the obsession started when I discovered quilting in college. A Pinterest post I couldn’t get out of my head led me to the quilt shops where I found a whole world of possibilities!

When we moved to Austin after graduation, I ended up working at a local quilt shop part time & there I learned about longarm quilting. I was hooked! We were in the process of buying our first house & I began touring with a tape measure to make sure a longarm would fit. Sure enough, we found the perfect place on Running Doe Lane (hence the name). My husband bought me my first longarm. A used Proto-Stitch Wizard (very early, now non-existent brand) that took a year to get working well enough to stitch anyone’s quilts because of all its quirks.

I stitched and stitched on that Stitch Wizard- free motion quilting & saving every cent towards an upgrade. In 2016 (barely a month before my first child was born) I upgraded to a Handi-Quilter Infinity. Then in 2019, knowing I wouldn’t be able to keep up with free-motion quilting and two kids, I added the computerized Pro-Stitcher system in preparation for my second child.

In the meantime- around the time I was pregnant with my first in 2016- I submitted a quilt pattern to Villa Rosa Designs for consideration. They accepted it and asked for more! Since then I have designed over 60 quilts for them as well as several independent patterns (all available for digital download on the shop page).

In 2019 a local quilt guild asked me to present a trunk show of my quilts and I said “why not!” Thus, trunk shows were added to my ever growing list of quilty jobs. And they are one of my favorite things to do because I get to meet so many wonderful quilters I wouldn’t otherwise get to meet!

The trunk shows led me to making kits to bring and sell alongside my patterns & I started listing those on my website shop as well. And where there are kits there is fabric, so that got  added too.

In 2021 we decided to move closer to home, so we packed up the family and settled just outside of Tyler, TX. In 2022 we welcomed our third child.

Slowly but surely the shop has continued to grow at a perfect pace, right alongside my little family. I get to work in the evenings & when the littlest ones go to mother’s day out but still play with my kiddos all day long!

I am so thankful for all the wonderful customers and friends I have through this business. And I am looking forward to seeing how it continues to grow.
